Classroom Communities
Wouldn't it be awesome if the kids could have a place where everyone can login, everyone gets their own blog, they can upload their picture, post their favorite hobbies, movies, books, and music, they can upload photos, discuss things on the message boards, create and vote on polls, view/edit the class calendar, read the latest news, weather, etc. You can with our Classroom Blogs.
"Think of it like a kid-friendly myspace for just your classroom."
Each child has their parent fill out a permission slip. The permission slip asks for child's username/password as well as parent's. This way parents can monitor the site at all times. The site is setup to only allow registered users, by secured password. For safety, if you're not in the class, a parent or a teacher, you will not have access. Apply the same rules as your classroom; No profanity, violence, bad images, racism, abuse or negativity allowed.
"A Classroom Community Blog is a great tool for the kids to get to know each other, share things, communicate, and to learn a new form of technology."
Kids are already using things like Myspace, Youtube and other social networking programs. You might as well have them using something that can be monitored, and they can make friends and share things with other kids locally.
Not to mention you'll be one of the first teacher's to be doing this type of thing, you'll be a star...make your class the stars they deserve to be. New Communitiies only creates Classroom Communities for grades 4, 5 and 6. Our Classroom Blogs work better with younger students. You can see an example Classroom Blog Community here.
*Note: A real classroom blog would have the security enabled to allow only parents, teachers and students.
